Emma joined Miller Sturt Kenyon in May 2019. Emma is qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a UK Chartered Patent Attorney.
Emma handles prosecution of British, European, PCT and other patent applications, drafting of patent specifications and preparation of opinions. She handles contentious IP matters and opposition proceedings including up to appeal level. Emma also has extensive experience of providing strategic IP advice to entrepreneurs, start-ups and angel investors.
Emma has 17 years’ experience in the profession, working with a wide range of technologies but her particular areas of expertise are in the medical technology field including implants, prosthetics, formulations and drug delivery mechanisms. She has also gained considerable experience in the automotive field, aircraft design, automated manufacturing systems and CleanTech.
Emma has lectured on various topics of European Patent Law at international conferences.
Before entering the profession, Emma completed a Master’s in Chemistry where her master’s thesis centred around the use of calixarenes in metal-based catalysis.
