Nic joined Miller Sturt Kenyon in February 2015. Nic is qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a UK Chartered Patent Attorney.
Nic handles day-to-day prosecution of British, European, PCT and other patent applications, drafting of patent specifications and preparation of opinions. Nic also has extensive experience of representing blue chip clients at oral proceedings at the European Patent Office. He also handles contentious IP matters, and has experience of taking multiple opposition proceedings including up to appeal level.
Nic has 13 years’ experience in the profession, working with a wide range of mechanical and electronic technologies, especially in the automotive field, from mobile satellite telecommunications systems, display screen technology, biometric scanners and consumer electronics to aircraft safety devices, submersible electronic connectors, automated manufacturing systems and automotive components.
Nic has lectured on various aspects of European and British patent law in Japan and South America. While studying at university, Nic spent a year studying physics at the University of Salamanca, Spain and speaks Spanish fluently. Before beginning his training as a patent attorney, Nic completed an oceanographic research placement in the Acoustic Research Laboratory at the National University of Singapore.
